Our Story
The municipality of Les Cayes is one of the five largest cities in Haiti. Its current population is around 126,000 inhabitants, with a density of 574 inhabitants per square kilometer.
With a demographic growth rate of 1.52%, the city of Les Cayes has the fewest public and non-public hospitals that can meet the needs and emergencies of healthcare in various medical specialties (5 hospitals, 209 beds for a population of 126,000 inhabitants). As a result, the inhabitants of this city continue to travel hundreds of kilometers to benefit from services from healthcare specialists in Port-au-Prince, and other regions of the country.
In response, the Caramel Foundation launched a series of community meetings to address the challenges of availability of hospital structures and accessible medical care in the city. Through these meetings, a plan developed. In Jan. 2020, the CaraMed Campaign began.
What We Do
The Caramel Foundation offers various medical specialties to all genders without exception, without discrimination based on local, regional, national, and international origin.
Our priority is to provide health services to the population of Les Cayes. In addition, we focus on the renewal of sanitary equipment, the procurement of medical inputs, and the good treatment of our medical and administrative personnel.

CaraMed is a social hospital enterprise, which means that it is a humanistic initiative with a community service component. The purpose of the CaraMed Campaign is to build a modern and innovative hospital in Les Cayes that offers various medical specialties to all genders without exception, without discrimination based on local, regional, national, and international origin. The hospital will have a set of sanitary blocks corresponding to the different economic means and financial capacity of any type of user who may seek our services.

The Caramel Foundation is dedicated to improving the overall health and well-being of the population in the South, to ensure self-sustainability for equitable healthcare services, providing accessible, high-quality medical care, promoting medical research, and fostering an inclusive environment.
We believe that health is not the possession of anyone, but rather a conditionality of human realization in its broad existence. Therefore, we focus on providing our clients with an experience that enables them to have a genuine condition of well-being, enjoyment of health, and the possibility of taking care of oneself in situations of ill-being.
